Focus ADDult - Promotes concentration, focus and attention span in teens and adults

A short adult attention span is an under-diagnosed condition, as most adults are usually unaware of it. Many adults develop coping skills over time, and the problem may remain hidden. It is mostly when parents see signs of a short attention span in their children that they are reminded of their own inability to remain focused on the task at hand.

Occasionally forgetting where you put the keys or your mobile phone should not be a cause of great concern. Keeping things in an organized manner should be enough to take care of small issues like that. Most of us experience these sudden and inexplicable lapses of memory one time or the other. These should not be confused with a lack of mental focus. Lack of mental focus occurs when you are unable to concentrate on what you are doing and your mind wavers from one topic to another.

Most of us dread senility and the forgetfulness that is associated with it, but we hardly admit it in front of others for fear of being labeled and left out. At the same time, there is no dearth of seniors who would like to know more about improving brain functioning to ensure that their mind stays strong and lasts longer.

The brain is a part of the nervous system and is the seat of cognitive and perceptual powers of the mind. Did you ever notice that a good head message clears the cobwebs and relaxes the mind so that you regain mental focus and are able to get back to work with increased fervor and concentration? A head message is a temporary measure, but mental focus can be enhanced permanently by using specific herbs and vitamins.

Herbs and vitamins aid in basic functions of the central nervous system. Ginseng is the first herb that comes to mind when we talk of overall mental health. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), also known as the Indian ginseng, is another herb that works on a non-specific basis to increase longevity and health. Fruits, leaves and seeds of withania somnifera have been traditionally used by the Ayurvedic system for treating memory loss. Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri or Bacopa) is another herb extensively used for improving brain function. Supplements containing Brahmi are widely used in the East for improving alertness and as anti-anxiety agents. They is also used for mixing in natural oils for head massages.

In as far as vitamins are concerned, B vitamins and vitamin C work as antioxidants to combat free radicals in the body. These vitamins also aid neurotransmitter production and communication between cells, which helps in maintaining cognitive function by keeping the mind calm and increasing mental focus.
