In the present day scenario adults and children alike are subjected to a fair amount of stress. If adults have to fight for survival in a highly competitive market, children are required to perform consistently to be able to carve out a bright future. Stress can cause worry and anxiety to such an extent that it tends to affect our physical and brain health . It is typical to loose mental focus due to life’s pressures. On the other hand there is also a condition known as exaggerated concentration, which basically is exaggerated levels of concentration on an activity or task that can lead to anxiety. Recurrent stress may also lead to disorders in which it becomes difficult to concentrate even in a stress free environment.

Conventional medical science has been quite successful in treating many brain related problems with prescription drugs like antidepressants, stimulants and psychotherapy. The success, however, is limited due to the debate relating to the side effects, addiction and total dependence upon psychiatric drugs. Herbs and vitamins that promote mental focus , which are part and parcel of homeopathic treatment provide a convenient alternative to treating conditions associated with stress.

Homeopathy is an accredited system of natural treatment that involves remedies made from pure natural substances. The process strictly avoids anything remotely synthetic. Homeopathic remedies are not like conventional medications. They stimulate the body’s own healing power to give best possible health so that an energetic life is possible for a prolonged period. They can be very effective when selected for a specific problem and person.

Homeopathy has a different approach to treatment of conditions related to the mind. First of all it considers symptoms as a manifestation of the body’s attempt to cure itself. Secondly, the remedy is based on the principle that ‘like cures like’. A classical example of this is that a person, who has a cold accompanied by burning, watery eyes coupled with sneezing and a runny nose, is likely to be prescribed allium cepa. This remedy is from onions, which also produce the same symptoms on slicing.

The homeopathic approach to concentration would thus be to find natural sources that produce symptoms of lack of concentration. Glandular fever, for example, produces a sense of loss of concentration and forgetfulness. The extent of the loss leads to lack of control at times. An experienced homeopath will relate other symptoms and come to a definite conclusion after reading them in their totality.

Homeopathic prescriptions are handed out after a complete study of the behavioral patterns, lifestyle, and specific qualities and characteristics of a person. A general sense of loss of concentration is thus read in conjunction with the overall personality of the patient. Similarly, it is also important for a homeopath to understand whether any specific condition or situation is leading to concentration problems.

Concentration is also related to other diseases like ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease and overall deficient brain health. The homeopathic approach to these diseases is holistic that lays emphasis on the organic or functional relation between age and other symptoms that might be present.
