Thyroid Assist - Promotes thyroid health & functioning, plus healthy energy levels

There is no fixed cause behind the thyroid conditions hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. There are various causes behind a disruption in thyroid functioning, and in some cases, there is an autoimmune component that is involved. The autoimmune response creates a thyroid condition where the body’s immune system starts attacking the thyroid gland, instead of protecting it from infectious agents.

Symptoms of thyroid problems often present a dismal picture due to the rapid increase or decrease in the way the body burns energy. The symptoms are usually vague but disturbing, often presenting a dilemma of choosing between aggressive treatments or natural therapies.

Homeopathy offers non-aggressive and natural treatment of thyroid dysfunction. The added advantage of this therapy is that it does not suggest a single remedy for everyone. Remedies in homeopathy are prescribed after a detailed study of the personality of the patient. The traits of the patient and family history are then correlated with the symptoms. A remedy is prescribed only after matching these details with those mentioned in the homeopathic repertory. There may be different remedies for different people, but usually one or a combination of the following homeopathic remedies would treat hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.

  • Iodum
  • Lachesis
  • Fucus vesiculosus
  • Lycopus
  • Nat. mur.
  • Calcarea carb
  • Bromium

The underlying principle of homeopathy is that ‘like cures like’. This essentially means that a substance that causes a disease in its concentrated form will help to alleviate or cure the same disease when used in its diluted form, if prepared according to the principles of homeopathy. Homeopathy uses only natural substances to prepare its remedies, and also has a holistic approach to treating disease.

The debate between natural and synthetic chemicals used for treatment never-ending. Naturalists would have us believe that synthetic chemicals are poisons and natural chemicals found in plants and other natural substances are safe and can be used as an alternative to pharmaceutical drugs.

The moot point is that even harmless substances can be poisonous if consumed in large quantities. At the same time, poisons can treat disease if used judiciously by an expert. Homeopathy is based on exactly this doctrine of judicious use of natural substances, including poisons. Some of the most popular homeopathic remedies of proven efficacy have a toxic base but do not cause toxicity in the body, even after prolonged use. However, it is advisable that one should resist the temptations to self-diagnose such conditions and begin treatment, as it is always better to consult an expert.
