Periodic natural detox diets can be very helpful in maintaining health. Detox diets help to cleanse the system of toxins that accumulate in the body over time.

The human body is a complex system. This system has perfect balance in which various parts of the body interact and function to maintain a healthy mind and a healthy body. A detox diet should also focus on adequate amounts of fiber and water since these are essential for elimination of toxins through stool and urine.

A natural detox diet comprising of the following food items can make healthy meals:

  • Fruit and fruit juices
  • Vegetables
  • Edible seeds, like beans and lentils
  • Oats, oatcakes, rice cakes, brown rice and rice noodles
  • Potatoes
  • Fresh fish
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Popcorn (plain without butter)
  • Honey
  • Natural drinks and herbs, like ginger and garlic
  • Fresh, natural yogurt

All types of fruit, vegetables, seeds and fish are recommended in a natural detox diet provided they are fresh, dried or canned in water. Nuts and seeds should be unsalted. Drinks and juices should preferably be consumed without added sugar. The diet will also be more effective if you do not indulge in any activity while eating. Simply concentrate on the meal and allow sufficient time for chewing properly before swallowing. Try to get into the routine of drinking an herbal tea after dinner.

Detox remedies like hydrotherapy, exercise, breathing techniques and fasting have a great history of effective detoxification. Detox products can provide additional help if they are manufactured by trustworthy and authenticated companies.
