Home Remedies for Ringworms

Although its name suggests a parasite infection, ringworm is an extremely common fungal infection that affects the skin, nails and scalp.
One of the tell tale signs of ringworm is the appearance of patches of red rings on the skin surface. These rings have a bumpy texture with scaly borders and a white center which may look like blisters. The center area usually becomes crusty and outer edges become inflamed and spread outwards.
Did you know papaya is one of the most effective home remedies for ringworm? Simply rub slices of raw papaya on the ringworm patches at least 3-4 times a day for a week.

I have a feline feral colony and ring worm has run amok this year. I’ve had several bouts from just trapping cats and am delighted to hear of this solution. We’re using an athlete’s foot medication while they’re captured, but then they are released to the wild. Unfortunately, none of these cats are “pet” friendly, so applying anything up close after the fact is not an option. Any other suggestions for trying to eliminate ring worm in a feral environment?

Hi Sandy,
I know grapefruit seed extract and olive leaf extract supplements taken internally are beneficial to people with ringworm but not 100% sure its safe for cats.. I would suggest looking into it though.
