Medicinal Uses of Eleuthero
Eleuthero is sometimes referred to as an adaptogen, a substance that helps the body deal with stress.52 Scientists have learned that stress can cause extreme fatigue.53 They’ve also learned that eleutheroside E, a compound in eleuthero, may have anti-fatigue properties.54
In studies, eleuthero has also been shown to protect liver cells against heavy metal toxicity and to induce vascular relaxation.55,56 The vascular system is comprised of blood vessels, and some scientists attribute erectile dysfunction to problems in which not enough nitric oxide is released to relax these blood vessels.57
