4. What does Ear Dr. contain?
Ear Dr. contains the following 100% herbal ingredients in a medicinal olive oil base:
Melaleuca alternifolia is also known as Tea Tree Oil and is widely used for external inflammation and to treat various skin conditions. This oil has outstanding anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and healing properties. Tea Tree Oil will soothe and reduce inflammation in the ear as well as treat any bacterial, fungal or mite infection that is present.
Rosmarinus officinale (Rosemary) is well-known as a topical pain reliever and antiseptic/disinfectant herb. Several of the compounds in rosemary have also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.
Calendula officinalis (Marigold) is an herbal ingredient used to treat skin problems and promote healing of wounds. It is an excellent anti-inflammatory and prevents infection with its anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. Marigold has been shown to assist the regeneration of damaged skin tissue.
Verbascum thapsus is an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic herb. Verbascum thapsus is also good for healing of skin when applied topically and has a long history of use for ear conditions and in ear drops.
5. Is Ear Dr. approved by the FDA?
The FDA oversees all food and drug products. Since Ear Dr. is a herbal dietary supplement, it falls under the ambit of the FDA. In 1994 the FDA set up guidelines for dietary supplements, including labeling requirements, and created the Dietary Supplement Health Education Act (DSHEA). Ear Dr. follows all of DSHEA's guidelines. In addition, Native Remedies is an FDA-approved Food Facility, and all of our products are manufactured in a Pharmaceutical Graded, GMP-certified facility to guarantee the highest degree of consistency, reliability and potency.
6. How do I use Ear Dr.?
Hold your pet's head gently to one side and allow the drops to fall into the ear canal. Massage gently to spread the oil into the ear canal. Repeat 2 - 3 times daily for at least 7 - 10 days. Re-apply at the very first signs of re-infection. In the case of chronic ear problems, apply once or twice weekly as a preventative.
Cats and small dogs: 2-3 drops in the affected ear.
Medium-large dogs: 3-5 drops in the affected ear.
Caution: For external use only. Please consult your veterinarian should symptoms persist.
7. In what form does Ear Dr. come?
Ear Dr. comes in a soothing olive oil base and is applied topically to your pet.
8. What is the shelf life?
You will find a white sticker under the bottle with the expiry date on it. It is best stored in a cool dark place out of direct sunlight.
9. When will improvement be seen?
Improvement in discomfort, itchiness and pain should begin almost immediately after applying the drops and will continue to improve over 1-3 weeks of regular use.
10. Does Ear Dr. have any side effects?
No, Ear Dr. does not have any side effects as it is 100% natural and herbal.
11. How long does a bottle last?
One 30ml bottle of Ear Dr. will last for 20-40 days, depending on the size and needs of your pet.
12. Can I use Ear Dr. in conjunction with the antibiotics from the vet?
Yes, you can. Although antibiotics may cause side-effects and reduce your pet’s immune functioning, in severe ear infections they may be necessary. Ear Dr. will then be an excellent additional treatment for reducing inflammation and itching topically as well as preventing further growth of yeasts and fungi in the ear- organisms that antibiotics do not kill.
13. I have several pets and some of them have picked up ear mites. Should I treat all my pets for mites?
Any of your pets who have ear mites and the ones who come into contact with the affected pets, should be treated regularly with Ear Dr. You will also need to treat their surroundings such as their kennels or sleeping area. This can be done by washing all bedding in hot, soapy water and drying in a hot dryer. Clean out all kennels and treat the environment with a natural flea product available at pet stores or from a holistic vet.
14. What about all the 'debris' in my pet’s ear - should I remove this?
Removing excess debris and discharge from your pet’s ears will help Ear Dr. to work more effectively, but this should be done very gently to avoid impacting debris further into the ear canal. You should use cotton swabs to lift out debris gently - taking care not to drop the gunk back into the ear. Discard each swab after use as the debris contains plenty of live mites. Do NOT use ear buds to clean your pet's ear as these can cause injury to the ear.
15. What else can I do to help my pet?
Use together with our Immunity & Liver Support for a natural antibiotic effect.
