Spotting hot spots
Hot spots, otherwise known as acute moist dermatitis, are moist, red, inflamed lesions that usually appear on an animal’s head, chest or hip area in a circular shape. While hot spots can affect both dogs and cats, long haired breeds or breeds with a thick undercoat tend to be more susceptible.
Hot spots occur as the result of your pet biting, scratching or licking at an area of skin, either due to the irritation of a flea bite, ear infection or allergies, or as a result of boredom or anxiety. As the dog or cat continues to bite or scratch the affected area, the lesion becomes worse and the irritation is amplified, continuing the cycle.
The natural way
The best way to prevent hot spots from forming is to keep your pet on a steady flea control program. Flea bites irritate the skin, often causing dogs and cats to scratch and bite at the afflicted area until a hot spot appears. Additionally, it is important to keep your pet well groomed by regularly bathing and brushing him and clipping his hair short, especially during the warmer months. On a day-to-day basis, make sure your pet’s coat stays clean and dry, as this should also prevent any irritation.
Depending on how severe the hot spots are, antibiotics or a soothing ointment may be prescribed by your veterinarian and an Elizabethan collar may be placed around your pet’s neck to discourage him from scratching at the tender area.
Natural remedies are safe, gentle, and have been used for hundreds of years to help relieve symptoms of hot spots, maintaining skin and systemic health without the risk of dangerous side effects that can occur with traditional antibiotics.

Get optimum results with regular use
While conventional medicine works by often treating just the symptoms, natural medicine strives to create holistic balance in the body to support systemic health, relieve ailments, and help prevent future disease. Unlike pharmaceutical drugs, the natural ingredients in our remedies support overall health and functioning instead of just suppressing symptoms.
Pets respond to natural medicine in different ways. Some of our satisfied customers have reported observing immediate results in their pets, while many others have reported observing optimal benefits taking effect within 3-6 weeks. To ensure that your pet receives optimum results, it is important to administer natural remedies as directed and remain consistent. You may also find that giving your pet a smaller maintenance dose is beneficial for ongoing support. Many customers report using a regular maintenance dose as part of a preventative program for the continued health and well-being of their beloved animals.
How long will a bottle last?
One 2 fl oz bottle of Hot Spot Relief will last 30-40 days depending on the size and needs of your pet.
