What is PetCalm?

PetCalm is a safe, non-addictive 100% natural homeopathic remedy registered with the FDA and formulated especially for pets to relieve acute symptoms of fear and nervousness, helping to calm and soothe your pet back to balanced mood.

PetCalm comes in convenient, dissolvable granule form. Safe and easy to administer, these pleasant tasting granules are simply sprinkled on your pet's tongue and rapidly absorbed in the mouth — making them easy to administer.

PetCalm is a natural remedy with no risk of side effects or addiction and can be safely used by animals of all ages and sizes.

All Native Remedies homeopathic products and biochemic tissue salts are manufactured in an FDA and GMP registered pharmaceutical facility under the supervision of qualified homeopaths and responsible pharmacists. Individual ingredients are listed in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS).

Harmony and balance

Although certain animals do have a more nervous temperament than others, traumatic events or exposure to particular stressors can upset even a normally calm animal.

Fireworks, a trip to the vet, thunderstorms, small children, an abusive situation, change of owner, hair dryers, change of house, the addition of another pet — these are just a few of the everyday situations that can cause stress in your pet.

In order to help your pet cope with the common stressors of everyday life, it is therefore important to ensure the health of the nervous system.

The natural way

The best approach to nervous system health is a holistic one. This means a healthy diet, regular exercise and a secure home environment — as well as extra support in times of stressful events like Halloween.

Natural remedies can be of great benefit in supporting nervous system health safely and effectively.

What else can you do to help your pet during times of stress? Here are some tips from our Clinical Psychologist and Veterinary Nurse:

  • Although it's a natural urge to comfort your pet during times of distress, by giving your pet attention during a frightening episode such as a thunderstorm, you may actually encourage the behavior. Ensure that your pet feels secure, turn up the radio or put on the TV to mask loud noises and provide a warm, cozily lit area for your pet to sleep in, and then do your utmost to ignore any unwanted behavior. Not an easy thing to do, but persevere.
  • Be consistent with your reaction to your pet. The whole family needs to follow the same routine when dealing with your pet's anxieties otherwise your pet will become confused and even more insecure.
  • Consider consulting an animal behaviorist if your pet's behavior is affecting quality of life.
  • The sooner a problem is addressed, the easier it will be to modify the behavior.
  • Start socializing your new pet at an early age, allowing pets to become accustomed to trips in the car, strange noises, yelling children, noisy rubbish collection trucks etc.
  • Regular daily exercise is essential to help keep your pet healthy and fit, as well as in peak mental health. Bored, frustrated animals can hardly be expected to behave well.
  • A confident pet is a happy pet and will be an asset to any owner. This means lots of love along with consistent rules and discipline.

What are the Ingredients?

PetCalm is a 100% homeopathic formula and contains the following ingredients in therapeutic dosage: Arg nit (30C), Kali phos (6C), Passiflora (3X), Scutellaria (3X), Sucrose.

  • Scutellaria (3X) is one of the best-known homeopathic remedies for soothing the nervous system and may be used as acute symptoms present themselves.
  • Passiflora (3X) is another natural remedy that has been used since the 19th century to soothe the nerves. Modern research supports traditional usage and clinical trials have demonstrated the relaxing effects of Passiflora. (Akhondzadeh S, Naghavi HR, Vazirian M, Shayeganpour A, Rashidi H, Khani M. “Passion flower in the treatment of generalized anxiety: a pilot double-blind randomized controlled trial with oxazepam.&rdquo J Clin Pharm Ther. 2001;26(5):369-373.)
  • Kali phos (6C) is a biochemic tissue salt with many therapeutic benefits and will help to maintain nervous system equilibrium and harmony.
  • Arg nit (30C) is well known for soothing the nerves and providing support for the nervous system. It is also useful to promote digestive health.
  • Sucrose (inactive ingredient)

This homeopathic remedy is an OTC medicine registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Get optimum results with regular use

While conventional medicine works by often treating just the symptoms, natural medicine strives to create holistic balance in the body to support systemic health, relieve ailments, and help prevent future disease. Unlike pharmaceutical drugs, the natural ingredients in our remedies support overall health and functioning (rather than just suppressing symptoms).

Pets respond to natural medicine in different ways, some of our satisfied customers have reported observing immediate results in their pets while many others have reported observing optimal benefits taking effect within 3-6 weeks. To ensure your pet receives optimum results, it is important to administer natural remedies as directed and remain consistent. You may also find that giving your pet a smaller maintenance dose is beneficial for ongoing support, many customers report using a regular maintenance dose as part of a preventative program for the continued health and well-being of their beloved animals.

How long until I see results?

Because PetCalm is 100% homeopathic, it supports the animal body on a cellular level — getting to work upon the first dose. Within a few doses, PetCalm will support your pet's emotional health and balance of the nervous system. Continued improvement will be seen with regular use. While some animals need only a single dose, others may require additional doses, depending on factors such as the age and size of the animal. Response times vary from animal to animal, based on physiological composition and other circumstances. While some animals begin to show an almost immediate improvement that increases over time, others will see results after 3-5 days.

How long does one bottle last?

One bottle of PetCalm will last for 15-30 days, depending on frequency of use as well as the size of your pet. Each bottle contains 50-100 doses, depending on the size of your pet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Helps my pet sitter I have a crazy Yorkie, he is young and sometimes cant calm down. I don't mind it much, but when we have pet sitters he can be a little overwhelming. With just a little PetCalm Lucky calms right down and is easier to handle. My pet sitters just love this product! December 30, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worked Wonders I own a 10 year old pekingese and this product helps him during thunderstorms and fireworks. My peke is very brave but when there is a thunderstorm or fireworks he gets so scared. He wont go outside or even come out from under the bed. Once we started giving him PetCalm we immediately noticed a a difference, he comes out from under the bed and seems very relaxed. Thanks for the great product! December 21, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a wonderful product I have used PetCalm for 3 or 4 years. It has helped my little yorkie through some troubling times. I give it to him now each night at bedtime for a peaceful night's sleep (for him and for me.) thank you Native Remedies for another wonderful product. Marjorie O'Meara November 5, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by works very well i've been using this on 2 of my cats, who are both skittish. one is becoming more social and seems not as nervous all the time for no reason. the other is hiding much less. they both just seem overall calmer, but still themselves. like it just takes the edge off a little. they still run and hide from thunder and the vacuum, but i'll take it. a great product. Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is very easy to administer. I have been using PetCalm for quite some time and I have only good things to say about it. My mini poodle, Jazz, loves the taste and I find that she is less hyper and easier to groom for one thing. I use many of PetAlive's products and I feel that this is one of the reasons my Jazz is so healthy. At her last check-up the vet said she was like a four year old instead of eight years old. He fully agrees with my use of natural products only and I have spoken to him on several occasions about the benefits. Thank you. Lise Johnston, Jazz's Mom July 22, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Couldn't Live Without This Product! Funny how everyone sees my big mastiff Molly and thinks she's as tough as nails.... but all it takes is a raised voice, a garbage truck or a clap of thunder and she's shaking like a leaf. Finding PetCalm has been a life saver... Molly let's me dump the little balls right on her tongue and they stick so she can't spit them out. They take a little while to kick in but I definitely notice that she's calmed down and able to relax enough to lay down and nap after about 20 mins or so. Sometimes it does take a second dose but not very often. Can't imagine life for Molly without this product (or for me lol)!! June 20, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great product! I bought this for my older cat (10 yrs.), Jasper, because he tends to really beat his much younger brother up (who does everything possible to stay away from his big "brother"). I saw an immediate calming response in Jasper and his quantity of unexplainable attacks have become severely decreased! My only wish is that it came in a small tablet form for ease of giving Jasper the granules. Right now I have to put them in a favorite treat (yogurt) for him to take the granules. April 4, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by My cats are getting along better We have started using PetCalm in the mornings because it seems to be the time of day that my cats become very active and sometimes agitated. After the first week we have noted a steady improvement in their disposition. There have not been any significant side effects that we are aware of and the cats are getting along. I will continue to use PetCalm. January 21, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 A fantastic product for pets with nervousness and hyperactivity issues I have been using this product off and on for 3 years on my male Cairn Terrier who has problems with hyperactivity. Even with living outside and frequent walks he is unable to calm down and relax when new people are around. I find that giving him Petcalm helps to 'take the edge off'. My only complaint would be that the sprinkles are difficult to administer orally and is easiest to mix into wet food. He's not a picky eater so this is the best route for us. I recommend this product to anyone with a nervous or hyperactive pet! February 8, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by PetCalm Review While expectations ran high on this product, we unfortunately have not seen any significant improvements in the disposition of our mini-dachsund. We have followed the directions, but she continues to mourn for the loss of her older brother by crying/whining and nervousness. We will continue to administer Pet Calm to her (we still have 2 1/2 bottles left) and continue to monitor her reaction. We remain hopeful that there will be a change in her disposition with the continued use of this product. Sincerely, Cliff October 19, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product is a joke I ordered this for my 90 pound dog. The bottle is so small it could only be used if you have a pet mouse. Don't waste your money November 28, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by not good I was not happy with this. I have used it for a month now and it did not work. She still itchs all the time. August 9, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not sure this works as well on cats After waiting for nearly two months--PetCalm was on back order, I started my 6yr old cat Jack on PetCalm. Jack has been marking in five places consistantly in our house and is agressive towards our other two cats. Third day on the sprinkles; he has been been more edgy and territorial than before. In addition, he has moved on to marking furniture--a new uptick in his urine spraying. Given the sparkling reviews of PetCalm, mostly for dogs, I have to wonder if this formula is more canine than feline friendly. I am so dissapointed as I was really hoping PetCAlm would be the answer to Jack's agression/marking problem. March 7, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Had no effect Although very easy to use and palatable to my GSD, after using it for the past 2 months, PetCalm had absolutely no effect on my dog. March 25, 2011

How has PetCalm helped others?

Our little Maltese is a real baby whenever it comes to a visit to the vet! If we give her a dose of PetCalm just before leaving and one when we are there is such a big difference which makes everyone much happier. Thanks for this lovely remedy which is easy to administer - as you say truly without fuss or bother!”

“I am very impressed with your product. At first I was a bit leery of using it as it is made in South Africa and I was a little nervous about regulations in manufacturing but I absolutely love the product now that I've used it. I have a 145lb Great Dane who gets frantic during car trips and thunder storms. He gets four pinches of PetCalm and rides well and sleeps through thunder storms! I especially like how this doesn't make him drowsy or alter him except to let him relax. Thank you!”

— Jasmine, ME, USA

“Our Siamese cat …jumps at the slightest sound. She hates the sound of vacuum cleaners and is very sensitive to noise of all kinds. Since we have been giving her PetCalm every day we have seen a big improvement and she is more happy and relaxed. I can recommend this product to anyone with a highly strung sensitive cat or dog”

“I have a Jack Russell who pants and shakes terribly during a thunder storm. I give her a pinch of PetCalm and within seconds she is relaxed. Thanks for a great product.”
