What is Gumz-n-Teeth™?

Gumz-n-Teeth™ is a 100% herbal formula taken internally that helps support general dental health in pets. This formula also has a positive effect for systemic functioning as a whole.

All PetAlive® products are manufactured in a FDA-registered and cGMP-compliant pharmaceutical facility under the supervision of an expert team of herbalists, naturopaths, homeopaths and responsible pharmacists.

Dental Health in Pets

Maintaining your pet's dental health is a very important part of caring for your pet. Calculus is the brown build-up of plaque found extending downwards on the tooth from the gum line.

Dogs and cats make much fuller use of their teeth than humans do - using them in ways we usually use our hands. It stands to reason, therefore, that maintaining canine and feline dental health is essential to their well-being (and of course pets can't wear dentures).

Therefore, the best thing you can do for your dog or cat's dental health is to embark on a prevention program and look out for your pet's teeth and gums before it's too late.

The Natural Way

Bad breath is usually the first indication that your pet's teeth and gums need attention. Bacteria in the mouth and the development of calculus produce foul-smelling breath in pets. Regular inspection of the teeth is also a good idea to establish your pet's level of dental health.

Normal teeth in pets are shiny and white all the way to the line of the gum. Any deposits or build up of a dark yellow or brown substance on the teeth, especially near the gum line, indicates a problem with calculus.

Chewing on hard food generally cleanses the teeth of calculus, especially the tips of the teeth. However, be aware that the gum line is slightly indented and can harbor the calculus for months on end without being affected by your pet's eating.

The gums should appear a healthy pink color and there should be a clear delineation between gums and teeth.

What are the ingredients?

Gumz-n-Teeth™ is a 100% herbal formula and contains the following ingredients in therapeutic dosage: Certified Organic Horsetail Herb, Conventional Spirulina Thallus, Certified Organic Dandelion.

  • Certified Organic Horsetail Herb helps to support healthy body tissue due to its high silica content. Silica is essential in the maintenance of healthy and strong teeth, skin, bones, claws and fur and is the main component in all connective body tissues including the myelin sheaths around nerve cells and the membranes of the brain and spinal cord. It also contains health promoting compounds called sterols (D'Agostino, M., Dini, A., Pizza, C., Senatore, F., and Aquino, R. 'sterols from Equisetum arvense." Boll. Soc Ital. Biol Sper. 12-30-1984; 60(12):2241-2245).
  • Conventional Spirulina Thallus is a single celled microorganism found in the sea and known to be an excellent source of chlorophyll. Widely used for its nutritive properties, Spirulina contains protein, vitamins (including B12 and folic acid) and carotenoids. Spirulina also makes vitamin A available for use in the body. Vitamin A is essential for healthy eyes, teeth and immune functioning. This sea algae has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years as a tonic to boost energy, support liver and immune system functioning, and general systemic health. Human studies have shown Spirulina to promote oral health in particular (Mathew, B., Sankaranarayanan, R., Nair, P. P., Varghese, C., Somanathan, T., Amma, B. P., Amma, N. S., and Nair, M. K. "Evaluation of chemoprevention of oral cancer with Spirulina fusiformis." Nutr. Cancer. 1995; 24(2):197-202).
  • Certified Organic Dandelion Leaf is known to contain bitter principles which have a beneficial effect on saliva production in the mouth (Kuusi T, Pyylaso H, and Autio K. "The bitterness properties of dandelion. II. Chemical investigations." Lebensm-Wiss Technol.1985; 18:347-349). It is also a source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin A, D, C, various B vitamins, iron, lecithin, silicon, potassium, magnesium, zinc and manganese. These vitamins and minerals are all essential for the health of the digestive system, bones, teeth and gums.
  • Inactive Ingredients: Vegetable Cellulose, Organic Rice Flour.

Oral-Assist™ Oral Spray

The Importance of Healthy Teeth and Gums Keeping your pet's teeth and gums healthy is about more than sweet smelling breath. Oral health is critical for overall pet health. Once tooth decay has set in, your pet's quality of life, ability to enjoy food and overall systemic health may be compromised. Poor oral hygiene can also result in mouth ulcers and tooth abscesses, which can be painful and can cause tooth loss. Regular visits to the oral hygienist, daily teeth cleaning and, of course, a healthy diet are all key to maintaining oral health in dogs and cats. Natural remedies can also help to keep teeth and gums strong and healthy, avoiding tooth decay, tooth abscesses and other mouth problems. What is Oral-Assist?™ Oral-Assist™ is a homeopathic medicine that aims to support healthy teeth and gums in dogs and cats. It can be used to strengthen teeth against decay and is also very effective in the treatment of occasional mouth ulcers, tooth abscesses and toothache. Homeopathic medicines have a clear history of effectiveness in supporting animal health and can be of great benefit to your dog or cat, helping to resolve everyday problems quickly, safely and effectively. Oral-Assist™ has been especially formulated as a homeopathic remedy for oral and dental health in dogs and cats, containing scientifically selected homeopathic ingredients often recommended to address strong teeth and healthy gums, as well as ingredients to soothe inflammation and reduce infection in pets with abscesses, mouth ulcers and occasional toothache. Oral-Assist™ is presented in a convenient, virtually tasteless homeopathic spray formula for easy administration in our safe and effective alcohol-free formula. Homeopathic medicine is absorbed via the mucous membranes of the mouth as well as via the digestive tract. The liquid spray formulation therefore allows for maximum quick and easy absorption of the active homeopathic ingredients. While the remedy may be sprayed directly into the mouth, it may also be sprayed on food or a treat. The Natural Way A holistic approach to oral and dental health in dogs and cats is always better and can help to ensure that your dog or cat remains in tip top condition with healthy teeth and gums. Here are some holistic tips to follow: Good oral hygiene should be your first priority, as prevention is always better than cure. Regular visits to the vet or oral hygienist is important to check dental health and allow for early detection and treatment of any problems. Diligent teeth-cleaning is just as important for your pet as it is for you! Try to get your dog or cat used to this as early as possible. Flavored toothbrushes and special chews can help reluctant pets. A healthy diet helps promote strong teeth, healthy gums and a well-functioning immune system. Aim for a high quality, natural diet, along with toys and healthy snacks to chew on. Providing "chews" will help to keep dogs happy and occupied, while also serving he purpose of cleaning the teeth. If your pet stops eating his food, one of the first things to check for is a decaying tooth or a mouth abscess or infection.
