homeopathic remedies to promote physical health and emotional healing

1. What is a homeopathic remedy?

Homeopathic remedies are based on a holistic approach to health that addresses illness by stimulating the body's own healing powers. Homeopathy is based on the principle of "like treats like" or the "Law of Similars", which states that if an herb or some other natural substance is consumed in a large quantity and a specific set of symptoms occur, then that same ingredient in small amounts will stimulate the body to fight against those same symptoms.

The idea behind homeopathic medicine is similar to that of getting a vaccination; however, while vaccinations are used to prevent illness in people, homeopathic remedies are used to treat illnesses and address symptoms, whether these are physical or emotional.

A common and basic example of homeopathy is the red onion. Many people experience symptoms like watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing and even an itchy throat after dicing red onions. Therefore, red onion is often used as a homeopathic medicine in homeopathic potency to combat these same symptoms stemming from mild allergies or the common cold.

Using red onion in its raw form would aggravate these symptoms; instead it is prepared homeopathically so that the final remedy has no molecular traces of the original raw ingredient. The homeopathic preparation will stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms to overcome the symptoms naturally and without chemical drugs, thereby addressing the symptoms and strengthening the body's defenses.

Homeopathy is a gentle yet effective system of healing, and the remedies are suitable for use in all ages, including during pregnancy. In addition, homeopathic medicines may be safely combined with prescription medication in most cases.

Note: You will be able to identify a homeopathic medicine by its potency, shown in parentheses after the ingredient; for example, Arnica (6C).

2. Are homeopathic remedies safe?

Yes. Like conventional medicine, homeopathy uses a wide variety of ingredients of herbal, mineral, or animal origin. As is the case with conventional medicine, some of these ingredients may be also toxic in large amounts. However, due to the unique and specialized manufacturing methods used in homeopathy, no molecular traces of the original raw ingredients are left in the final product. This makes homeopathy extremely safe.

All Native Remedies homeopathic products are manufactured in FDA and GMP registered pharmaceutical facilities under the supervision of qualified homeopaths and responsible pharmacists. Individual ingredients are listed in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS).

Most homeopathic remedies can be safely used alongside most conventional medicines, and unless otherwise noted, are safe for people of all ages, including pregnant women or nursing mothers.

3. How long does a homeopathic remedy take to work?

People respond differently to homeopathic medicines based on individual emotional and physical states. While some individuals show an immediate improvement which increases over time, others will see results over a few weeks with regular use.

Homeopathic remedies work from the inside out, often causing you to feel more positive, with more energy, in the first instance. Outer symptoms such as skin conditions are often the last to clear. Sometimes patience is called for – as balance is slowly restored, symptoms will improve.

4. What else can I do?

Depending on the situation and the individual, other holistic treatment modalities compliment homeopathy very well, including acupuncture, aromatherapy massage, herbal remedies, or meditation. As with all approaches to health, taking into consideration proper lifestyle, diet and exercise are also crucial for optimum health and results.
